Looking for a multi-stage running challenge to add to your wishlist? With spectacular Colorado scenery, buckets of team camaraderie and full event support (from accommodation to hot showers), the TransRockies Run has it all.

What is the TransRockies Run?
It’s a 120-mile, point-to-point trail running event spread out over six days. Run in a team from the stunning Buena Vista to the finishing point in Beaver Creek, Colorado. As multi-stage races go, the mileage is pretty ‘low’, with a max of 25 miles in one day and a low of 13.3 miles, making it a good first event for those wishing to dip their toe into multi-stage events.

When does the TransRockies Run take place?
A yearly event, the 2018 race takes place from 13 August to 18 August 2018 (registration opened yesterday!). There’s a 2017 event running this year too, from 15 August to 20 August.

Is it a team event?
Yup, the TransRockies Run is a team event where you share your adventure with a running partner. If you fancy it solo, that’s possible too, however.

What’s the running terrain like?
The route takes you on a mix of forest road and single track trails through the wild and beautiful White River and San Isabel National Forests. Think epic scenery, rivers and woodland.

Are we talking serious hilly running?
Uh, yeah. 20,000ft of elevation in total, but don’t panic – it’s spread pretty evenly over the six days. Apart from the last two stages, which include 4,100ft and 5250ft of climbing respectively.

Where do we sleep after running each stage?
Accommodation is set up in a tent village after each stage. The event organisers make sure it’s built, ready and waiting for you after each run. They transport your gear there, too. And there are HOT SHOWERS. Joy.

Do I have to run with all my food and gear?
Nope. There’s a small list of mandatory items you’ll take with you on the run, but otherwise everything is ready for you after each stage. Food is supplied for a number of breakfasts and dinners, and there are feed stations and on-course support throughout the race.

Are there specific run categories?
Yes, there are seven team running categories:
Open Men,
Open Women,
Open Mixed
Women 80+ where the combined team age is more than 80
Men 80+ – as above
Mixed 80+
And 100+ mixed gender, where the combined team age is more than 100
